Emoji Maker – Step-by-Step Tutorials
To begin, first, let us introduce ourselves. My name is Zulqarneyn Suleyman. I was born in Geneva, Vernier on 26 December 1995. I’m going to be writing this article about emoji making since 2015 because I think there would be better opportunities left unmentioned if I didn’t create them yet.
The reason is I started learning about emojis and design around 2012. Even though I’ve been doing my research online for quite some time now and tried out apps like Google Hangouts, Snapchat, etc., I finally decided to start using emojis on Facebook. At least, that’s what I thought. One day a week, I tried experimenting with emojis and got really excited when I saw something interesting.
There would just be no way me doing such activity on social media would be interesting. My brother had suggested that we buy someone some beers at his pub recently and we were planning to ask him to bring emojis, so I decided to try it out. So, in the beginning, I had just used some basic emojis including thumbs up, hearts, smiley faces, stars, and many more emojis.
But after a while, I loved making some interesting ones. After a few hours of playing around, I decided on what emojis would be awesome for and ended up getting five different ones.
Every week, I would spend around 30 minutes of my spare time creating new emojis for Facebook and then adding them to a list on Instagram. Eventually, one week, I made almost 7 emojis and it became very visible, but still not as much as my brothers had predicted.
That same week, while searching for memes on the internet, I stumbled upon Reddit emojis and began making funny memes because I was curious. Of course, everyone else was already making hilarious meme emojis, but I couldn’t find the funny ones. When I wasn’t doing anything at all, I just tried out various emojis that were trending at a particular time of the week.
A few weeks later, I noticed some amazing emojis being shared by people. Nowadays, Instagram has over 10 million followers and they are constantly updating their list. They even make emoji videos that you can watch on YouTube! And even those viral TikTok emojis have been featured as GIFs in Snapchat stickers too.
All these things show that emoji-making is fun! Well, as long as you use social media as you wish, you have multiple options to choose from. Below I share some methods that you can use to make your own emojis. Let’s go through it step by step!

[email protected]
Step 3: Add Categories Sliders
The easiest way to do emoji designing is to find categories and then choose emojis. You can click on arrows on your computer or touch screen. However, before clicking on the arrows, you should read the category icons carefully. Category icons are usually either word (“I love emojis”) or numbers (“Emoji Designer Guide”).
Words have two kinds of shapes while numbers are always in numerical form. In addition, certain groupings have special forms of characters, which helps you do emojis easily. Some examples are ‘; I have 2 thumbs’.
As you might know, emojis consists of numbers that are divided into groups. Each emoji group contains one letter. Groupings depend on the emoji, meaning they can have letters like K, C, L, P, D, E, S, N, O, and others. Thus, you can identify the most common emoji groups or the categories of emojis.
To understand these types in-depth, think of one category for example. Think of emojis in letters, numbers, and symbols. While these types all contain letters, they are different because some emojis represent them differently. Examples include ‘; the sun’, ‘; emoji’ and ‘; I have two thumbs’.
These types come under emojis, which means that the letter ‘; the sun’ and ‘; I have two thumbs’ in these emojis could be in the same sentence although they may appear separately in text. You can think of emojis as a set of patterns or rules which govern how they should look, look right, and look at specific parts.
Take note of these patterns whenever making emojis on your screen. Emojis are often grouped, for example, if you’re going to draw a circle, you can go with a cluster of circles rather than the circle itself.
Step 4: Select Emoji Groups
Using the above steps, you can build a list of emoji groups and then select emojis. An emoji group is a large collection of emojis. It includes the most popular emojis, and each group is separated into sub-groups that are further divided into smaller clusters based on popularity.
It is best to keep the largest cluster size small because you shouldn’t have too many emojis since there are not enough combinations that you will have to put under one individual group.
The main thing is to pay attention to patterns like letter groups, number groups, and emoji clusters to pick the correct grouping. Make sure you select your favorite emojis as well to keep up speed with trends. Before selecting your emoji clusters, think of what emojis have to give.
Are emojis relevant to you so that when you are researching or searching, you would enjoy every new emojis available? Don’t go with the latest, which probably won’t help you, but choose your favorites.
Be careful, however, because sometimes the emojis do not have any real value due to censorship or lack of understanding. Try adding emojis you feel would be great to share with family or friends.
Moreover, make sure to check this app from time to time, especially during holidays. Not only does emoji making help you learn something unique and makes you laugh and learn new things, but you also promote yourself and make new connections and bonds.
Emoji Maker – Step-by-Step Tutorials
So, now that we know how to make emojis, what should we do next? First of all, we need to figure out what emojis mean. There are several types of emojis and each design has its own meaning.
Emojis are used for sending emails, marking important dates, talking to friends or lovers, to call people within a community. The best design to choose is between vertical, horizontal, and circle emojis.
Vertical / Horizontal:
It takes advantage of our eyesight and allows you to use the majority of the screen, instead of sitting straight. This style is known as circular. People normally feel that the shape of an emoji in one hand doesn’t match the other hand.
The horizontal layout may seem more straightforward, but with this design, users tend to be unfocused and bored while scrolling through text.
Circle:
Similar to vertical. Users tend to be distracted at most times. Most users would like to be able to select emojis since they’re easy.
